Troubles Joining in Arcview

So I'm having trouble joining my shapefile to my group survey table. I wasable to get it to join to the sanborn survey table but I can't figure this oneout. It seems like they join with no problem but when I try to open theattributes table it says "Error exporting data. The Microsoft Jet databaseengine cannot find the input table or query 'GDB_ObjectClasses'. Make sure itexists and that its name is spelled correctly." Do you guys have anysuggestions as to what's going on?

Step 15 in Getting CAD into ARCView

I FIGURED OUT THE FIRST PART!

Hi there.

I have a question about the data I should be exporting within my line and poly shp files. There are no addresses in my point file; they only exist in my poly file. So, I exported the FIDs in both the point and shp files and the addresses in the poly file. Is that correct? Since the exported files have appeared in my TOC, should I go ahead and delete the original shp files, or should I wait?

As a clean-up issue, I'm wondering if I should delete my 'Elevation' and 'Thickness' columns within the data. I also found a duplicate FID column in both shp files which contains 0 all the way down. Should I delete that as well?

Thankythanky,
Andrea

Problems with saving MXD's in Arcview

I am having a lot of problems with Arcview. I have been working on Assignment 11 (CAD files in Arcview) but it will not save my .mxd file. Everytime I try to save I get "Arcview has encountered a problem and has to close" and the Microsoft error report. Then when I reopen the .mxd file says it cannot open the template. The file does open but it has reverted to the initial creation of point and polygon shapefiles (although they are missing and have red exclamation points) not the final version where the point and polygons have been joined. Before this mess, I did finish the assignment and exported the final polygon layer that has been joined to point data into the GIS folder in Public. The problem is I can't access the .mxd file with the finished polygon layer for the next part of the assignment: joining survey data to shapefile.

Problems getting the CAD file to work in ArcGIS

I'm having some difficulties opening my CAD drawing in ArcMap, even after saving it as a CAD2000 dwg, and also trying all the other available versions. I just get an error message saying "Could not open the specified document". Trying to open the file directly from ArcMap didn't work either, because the dropdown menu for file types in ArcMap doesn't give the option of a dwg. Any suggestions?

Export options in ArcGIS

I'm attempting to spatially join the point data to the polygons. I'm having trouble with the exporting data from the table section. When the table is open for the points file, there is an "export" button at the bottom of the screen and it initially seems to work just like the right click option that we used to change CAD data into a shapefile. However, the points aren't coming up as shape files. it converts them to dbf files but there seems to be no spatial data associated with them. The same problem is happening with regards to the tables for the polygons.
